As I have been playing drums at the parents and childrens service at St Johns Methodist in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, I have seen how they learn new songs - sometimes very quickly. Anyhow I decided to compose a song with quite a lot of repetition so that is easy to learn. In the words I brought up the concept of hating what is bad and hating a person and where separation of th two comes in. My intention is to compose songs that introduce topics for discussion for Sunday school. If anyone wants to use this song for the children at a church they are welcome to. I am hoping to compose more songs, perhaps in collaboration with the music worship team that I play with.I call myself Swayseeker.
A reference related to the song is Matthew 13:24 and of course there will be references for chaff, and so on that Sunday school teachers might use.
In the Chorus I say that "Not all our thoughts are entirely bad" although Romans 7:18 says: "I know nothing good lives in me.." and this could give rise to discussion of the good, the sanctified, the tainted in us and so on.
